My old friend Rosalind Appleby has written a very sweet post on her blog, Noted, about me and my orchestra, Ruthless Jabiru. Ros writes for The West Australian and other publications, and has recently authored an important new book about the rise of Australian women composers, called Women of Note.
The Australian Times has published a piece about my forthcoming concert with Ruthless Jabiru, “All Australian chamber orchestra to perform at Australia House”. The article is in the arts and culture section, and includes a photo from the orchestra’s performance at the City of London Festival in 2011.
The Government of Western Australia has written about my concert in London next month on the website of its European Office, including ticketing details at this link. For those planning to come along, all tickets need to be reserved in advance, as there’ll be strictly no door sales.
Ruthless Jabiru is to give a public concert next month at Australia House, London. I will conduct three works for string orchestra by Australian and American composers: Brett Dean Carlo, John Adams Shaker Loops, and the world premiere of Ruthless Jabiru’s first commission, by Australian composer and producer Leah Kardos. The performance, to be held on 9 May, will be hosted by the Government of Western Australia, alongside a reception of West Australian fine wines.
